If your phone has been reported lost or stolen, you may not be able to activate your phone with your mobile carrier. Here's how to check on an HTC Rhyme!
Each mobile phone is identified by a unique number. Based on the cellular technology used by the phone and the year released, the unique identification number is either called an ESN, IMEI or MEID number. This identification number can be used to collect basic information on any mobile phone, including the status of the phone. A phone can either be identified as cleared, locked, stolen or lost. If you're buying a phone on EBay, it is always a great idea to find out the phone's identification number and check its status using one of the many IMEI-ESN checking websites. In fact, carriers always check the identification number of a phone before activating it to be used on their network. If the status of the phone is not cleared, then the phone will not be activated.
